Thor faces Annihilus, who towers over him in the large half-splash panel at the bottom. Annihilus first appeared in 1968, penciled by Jack Kirby. Ron Frenz has always acknowledged Kirby's influence, and Joe Sinnott, who inked the page, had himself worked with Kirby for many years.
