Moebius (1938-2012), monogrammed "M."
Ink, felt-tip pen, and white highlights on paper.
A mustachioed man in profile, wearing a strangely familiar helmet, aboard a spaceship. This is one of the very first drawings of Major Grubert, known as Major Fatal.
Moebius created the Major in 1976 in *Le Garage hermétique*, published in *Métal Hurlant*, shortly after the end of the *Dune* project, which Moebius had begun in 1975. It's interesting to note that even before bringing him to life, Moebius already had the Major in mind while creating the *Dune* storyboard.
