In the mid-1970s, Jodorowsky was preparing an adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel. He entrusted the storyboard to Moebius, the set designs to H. R. Giger and Chris Foss, and approached Salvador Dalí and Mick Jagger for the cast. The film was never made.
