PIASA’s auction Protest: Art + Design features works that encapsulate
the art of Protest, both aesthetically and politically.
From Anti-Design to Radicalism, from Lettrisme to Punk, from Fluxus to the
Nouveaux Réalistes, from La Nouvelle Gauche to Anarchism… the 1960s and
1970s were a period of profound political and social change, prompted by a
new libertarian élan and a burning desire for a different worldview. The period
saw the birth of the Feminist, Ecology and Anti-Militarist movements – and of
alternative movements in general.
The PIASA round-table offers the chance to ask questions about these movements,
with leading actors of the Protest scene on hand to share their experience and
ideas about what constitutes the Protest movement today.
