With 103 lots, the sale is organized around several corpuses of works, offering a panorama of contemporary art, both in its French and international specificities, from World War II to today.

When Wim Delvoye was asked "How did you come to tattoo live pigs", he replied in an interview published in Le Monde (August 25, 2005): "It's an old story that goes back to the early 1980s. During holidays in Cuba, a friend, Gerardo Mosquera, said to me: 'You know, Fidel Castro talks about liberalising the government, but the only concession he is willing to make to the population is to allow a pig in every house. In communist times, the pig was a capitalist symbol, and was not allowed in private space. It is true that you can save money with a pig. It is a product of biological and financial growth. People expect added value. It is similar to an artwork. Even the finest collector expects an added value. If he is not looking for a financial investment, he is looking for a social or symbolic added value. Nobody wants to admit that the power behind art is that you can own it. I pay tattoo artists to tattoo tiny paintings on pigs. It's very special to tattoo, it's really not classy, except for scoundrels. And I show the world artworks that are so alive that they have to be vaccinated... It lives, it moves, it will die. Everything is real. Living art is more resistant than stuffed art.'
