On Tuesday, November 20, PIASA is dedicating its fourth sale to the famous Venetian glass factories Venini and its prestigious collaborations with the most important modern and contemporary designers: Ettore Sottsass, Tadao Ando, Ron Arad, Fluvio Bianconi, Fernando & Umberto Campana, Gio Ponti, Timo Sarpaneva, Carlo Scarpa.

It was in 1921 that the lawyer Paolo Venini and the antique dealer Giacomo Cappellin created what has become the most important glass factory in Murano, the island off Venice that has housed a glass craft since the 13th century. The pieces presented at this sale are mostly prototypes and artist's proofs and all come from the Venini Museum. Since the 1930s, the quality of the pieces has encouraged major artists to collaborate with the studio, as the designer touches on all Carlo Scarpa and the designer Gio Ponti who presented their glassware at the Venice Biennale in 1940.

After the Second World War, while the competing workshops were going through a difficult period, the art glassware chose to innovate by collaborating with the artist Fulvio Bianconi who created magnificent vases and sculptures with refined and organic forms. Thus, three of his creations that will be the highlight of this sale: "Vaso con Omini" from 1950 estimated between 40 000 / 50 000 €, "Vasocon Granchio" from 1950 estimated between 25 000 / 30 000 € and "Vaso con fiori" from 1951 estimated between 30 000 / 40 000 €.
