On Thursday, December 16th, 2021, PIASA is introducing a new sales event called ONLIVE auctions. This new type of auction is in tune with both technological developments and new social practices.
These ONLIVE auctions offer bidders the opportunity to participate in a remote auction through a live video broadcast of the auction held behind closed doors. Customers bid either by absentee bid, or directly on the phone or online from their smartphone, tablet or computer.
This first event offers the opportunity to take part in an afternoon of sales combining several types of works and objects: jewellery, modern and contemporary art, design, photography, etc., grouped around a theme. For this inaugural session, the notion of collection is the unifying element of the four sales:
- JEWELS BY ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS, AT 2PM
- MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART, AT 3PM
- SCANDINAVIAN CERAMICS, 4PM
- JEAN COLONNA; INTIMATE(S), 5:30 PM
JEWELS BY ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS
PIASA's jewellery department has selected a group of around 80 signed pieces for this sale. These pieces come from collectors who are passionate about the work of post-war artists, painters and designers such as Sonia Delaunay and Niki de Saint Phalle, as well as more contemporary artists (Catherine Noll, François-Xavier Lalanne, Corneille and Hervé van der Straten, Giorgio Vigna, etc.), who have developed their practice in a medium as unexpected as jewellery. Made of silver, enamel, Murano glass, etc., these pieces are a true reminder of the artists' creative genius, reflecting their talent and truly anchoring their work in the spirit of pop culture, whether they are original or published ones.
Pendant in yellow 18k gold (750‰)
This sale brings together some fifty works from various private collections. Of particular note are works by the French artist Jean-Pierre Bertrand (1937), which are rather rare on the market and a sculpture by Bengt Lindström.
Jean-Pierre Bertrand (1937-2016)
Rouge-Blanc-Rouge (Triptyque), 1988
Acrylic, collage and salt on paper, Plexiglas and corner iron
This sale of Scandinavian ceramics consists of an exceptional group of 80 unique ceramic works produced between the 1930s and 1980s.
Timeless, luminous, polyformed and graphic, these are the qualities that led the collectors to put together this selection of objects. Most of the lots are stamped DENMARK, a guarantee of quality as of provenance. One will thus note the presence of pieces - lamps, vases, enamelled tables - produced by designers such as Per-Linnemmann Schmidt, Nils Kâlher, Stig Lindberg...
Set of seven vases and four cups
Very varied due to the nature of the lots presented, this sale provides a glimpse into the interior of fashion designer Jean Colonna's flat and the works and design pieces, which he lived with on a daily basis.
The selection includes photographs by Bettina Rheims, a close friend of the designer, as well as by Andres Serrano and Nan Goldin; an important library of books dedicated by his artist friends; pieces of furniture by the designer Christian Astuguevieille; a collection of art objects gathered during his travels in Nepal, his favourite country, as well as in Korea, the Congo, Oceania and Indonesia. In a way, this sale allows us to enter into the intimacy and personal tastes of this fashion figure of the 1990s and 2000s.

INTIMATE(S)
This collection, or more importantly this accumulation of moments, is an intimate part of me, of my life, rarely shared.
We grew up together, we were accomplices, we were intimate.
With each of these pieces (books, sculptures, plates, furniture and others), a strong, intense relationship was created for some.
I respected them, they nourished me.
They were the silent witnesses of my reflections, my doubts, my happiness, my daily life.
They became a family.
They have allowed me to meet passionate people. Photographers, artists, writers, craftsmen of earth, wood and iron or simply anonymous people.
There were exchanges with each one, journeys through time, real friendships.
This sale does not put an end to all that.
A new life is offered to each of these pieces.
No regrets, no nostalgia. What remains is the memory of having lived all these moments together.
"Goodbye my Intimate(s)".
- Jean Colonna
