The Decorators of the Present

13 December 2020

On the occasion of the vacation "The AD style", result of the partnership between PIASA and the famous magazine AD, the design department presents this Wednesday, December 16th, a selection of pieces that give pride of place to today's decorators.

Laura Gonzalez (Born in 1983)

An interior designer known for her mix and match style, Laura Gonzalez defines a new form of classicism with a romantic touch. She combines materials, prints, and eclectic pieces of furniture into highly designed spaces. In 2008, at the age of 24, still a student at Paris Malaquais, she opened her agency. Launched by the revival of the Bus Palladium in 2010, she has been working in successful places such as the restaurants l'Alcazar, Manko or Lapérouse.

Charles Tassin (Born in 1959)

Interior architect having made his debut in event decoration, Charles Tassin has a taste for luxurious as well as comfortable interiors. This great fan of the seventies likes to mix genres, blurring references even in the furniture he edits through the May gallery he opened in 2012 with his wife, Maylis Queyrat, rue de Lille, in Paris. James Bond spirit, fifties lines, Art Deco evocations: the man combines styles to install a form of vintage revisited.

Dimorestudio (Agency founded in 2003)

Decorators, designers, fabric editors and antique dealers based in Milan, the American Britt Moran and the Italian Emiliano Salci bring to the spaces they reinterpret the patina of a fantasy past. Their interiors evoke decayed Venetian palaces as well as modernist villas from the sixties and trendy night clubs from the 1980s. The duo also publishes furniture with a falsely vintage flavor that they mix with well-chosen antiques, also sold by their care. Spotted for revamping the Grand Hotel and Milan, the duo is now designing the layout of new Dior boutiques around the world.

India Mahdavi (Born in 1962)

Trained as an architect at the Beaux-Arts, then at Christian Liaigre, India Mahdavi founded her agency in 1999. She explores from different territories, from design to interior architecture through scenography, and excels in the art of bold stylistic juxtapositions. The Parisian designer, who launched her furniture line in 2003, loves color: shocking pink, prairie green... her palette seems unlimited and, like a painter, she uses it to build narrative decors.

Thierry Lemaire (Born in 1960)

Trained as an architect, hence his taste for rigorously designed spaces and furniture, Thierry Lemaire has specialized in decoration since 1990. He develops contrasted interiors, all in tension between the play of raw materials and sophisticated glosses, dark colors and bright touches. Very much influenced by the seventies, he designs glamorous furniture, self-published or produced by Fendi Casa or Holly Hunt. In 2017, he inaugurated a gallery on rue de Beaune in Paris dedicated to his creations.
