Note: Designed in 1954 by Jean Prouvé for the student dormitories at the Cité Universitaire Jean Zay in Antony, this bed was named "SCAL" because an earlier version had been created in 1939 to furnish the staff dormitories at SCAL (Société Centrale des Alliages Légers).
