In 1998 Job Smeets founded Studio Job, a creative hub based in Netherlands where traditional and modern come together to produce once- in-a-lifetime objects characterized by a strong love for details, freedom of expression and a blend of 2D and 3D. Extravagant and cartoon-like products made them pioneers in contemporary conceptual and sculptural design scene.
Encased in a travel-worn crate, the shape becomes a hybrid between design and art. Partly hidden, it blends function and narrative, a seat, a functional light and a sculpture. Embodying Studio Job's signature combination of craftmanship and storytelling, Return to Sender plays with absence and presence while transforming an icon into a conceptual, collectible object.
