Rémi Without a Family
Production celluloid painted in Indian ink and acrylic, with a matching background featuring Rémi on the right, Vitalis in the centre and Capi, the white dog from Vitalis’s troupe. Vitalis is the one who bought Rémi when his adoptive mother’s husband went bankrupt and decided to secretly sell Rémi, who was only eight years old at the time. Vitalis became Rémi’s spiritual father, teaching him to sing, play music, read and write. Together they travelled the roads of France, putting on shows with their troupe of animals; this journey was marked by moments of happiness but also by great tragedy.
