Twelfth generation of Mino style ceramicists,
his ancestor, Kagemitsu Kato, created the first Mino kiln in 1574.
Several awards from the National
Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
Member of the Japan Kogei Association.
The kiln is still active and used by his grandson, fourteenth generation of the Kato family.
Declared Intangible cultural good in 1958.
