Jean Mahie is the collaboration between Jacqueline
Mazard and her father in law Jean, a businessman
who saw her potential and helped her create a line
of successful jewelry pieces in a very personal and
primitive style. Jacqueline, who grew up in
Carthagena, Tunisia, was interested very early on by
art and design, inspired by the remnants of roman
antiquity. She first became a painter before entering
the forge. Major jewelers such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels took interest in Jean Mahie, but the
designers wished to keep their specific style,
creating only unique piece, and chose to only
distribute their work through Neiman Marcus in NYC.
Thus, the Jean Mahie production became iconic
throughout Europe and the United States.
