Métasphère incisé III, 15.4.66
Indian ink and pigments on embossed card stock
Signed and dated lower right
64 x 49.5 cm
Provenance: Paul and Jacqueline Canfrère Collection
Bibliography: This work will be included in the Catalogue Raisonné of the artist's work, currently being prepared by Mr Dominique Bollinger.
A certificate of inclusion in the Catalogue Raisonné from the Jean Degottex Committee, chaired by Mr Bollinger, will be issued to the purchaser.
Note: On the evening of 22 April 1966, Degottex had an experience that would leave a lasting impression on him: two balls of fire streaked across the sky before disintegrating into a white trail. 'Les Métasphères' had been created before this event, but it is likely that it was this experience that ultimately determined the circular form.
