Note: From March 3 to April 2, 1944: Chaissac participated in the 55th exhibition of the Société des Artistes Indépendants, where he presented "Deux cousins par alliance" (gifted by Jeanne Kosnick-Kloss to the Société des Indépendants) and "Sorcier et sa monture se rendant au sabbat". These two works were noticed by Raymond Queneau, with whom the artist began a correspondence. Queneau, understanding his destitution, sent him paints, and Chaissac offered him a work in gratitude.
