This scene illustrates the “zhiri gaosheng˜” proverb ,meaning “to rise quickly to a high
position”. This scene is probably taken from the famous “Yang jiajiang yanyi” (The Yang
Warriors) story, which tells the tale of the Yang family patriots who defended the Northern
Song empire.
