Armchair n°21, 'Chamrousse'
Ash wood and straw
Edited by L'Équipement de la Maison
Model created in 1935
H 76 × L 44 × W 63 cm
Note: In 1935, Charlotte Perriand designed the study room for ‘La maison du jeune homme’ (The Young
Man's House) for the Brussels World's Fair. On
either side of the desk are two chairs: a swivel chair
made of metal tubing and the ‘Chamrousse’ chair, made of wood and straw. For this occasion, Perriand revisited the chair with a tilting backrest designed in
1928 with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret,
replacing the tubular steel and metal with materials
of organic origin.
