'Correalistic Rocker'
Limited edition
MDF, lacquered ash wood, steel and fabric
Limited edition by Bjarne Melgaard
Model created in 2008
H 85,5 × L 40,5 × W 105 cm
Note: This reinterpretation by Norwegian
expressionist artist Bjarne Melgaard is a tribute to
the multi-functional seats by Frederick Kiesler known
as Correalistic Furniture, designed by the latter in
1942 for Peggy Guggenheim's Art of This Century
gallery in New York. Frederick Kiesler's correalist
theory held that "form does not follow function" and
that all elements are interdependent. The concept of
"correalism" thus denotes the permanent, dynamic exchange between human beings and the
environment in which they exist.
