Lange & Söhne is one of Germany’s most prestigious watchmaking houses, embodying the excellence of Saxon haute horlogerie since 1845.
A. Lange & Söhne is one of Germany’s most prestigious watchmaking houses, embodying the excellence of Saxon haute horlogerie since 1845.
The history of the manufacture:
Founded by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, this house has enjoyed an exceptional history. After brilliantly developing German watchmaking in the 19th century, it was forced to cease operations in 1948 under the communist regime. Its revival in 1990, orchestrated by Walter Lange, the founder’s great-grandson, stands as one of the finest comebacks in contemporary watchmaking.
This revival was immediately distinguished by a remarkable technical approach: every A. Lange & Söhne movement features finishes of exceptional quality, notably the famous German nickel-silver bridges and the manufacturer’s characteristic gold screws.
The Saxonia: the essence of German elegance
The Saxonia collection perfectly embodies the brand’s philosophy: pure elegance, devoid of any artifice, in the service of perfect legibility.
• Timeless design: A classic round case, a clean dial with Arabic numerals or baton hour markers – this line prioritises simplicity and harmonious proportions.
• In-house movement: Every Saxonia houses a calibre entirely developed and assembled in Glashütte, featuring the brand’s characteristic finishes: rhodium-plated mainplate, nickel silver bridges, and gilded screws.
• Refined variations: From the classic three-hand Saxonia, as seen in our example, to more complex versions with an annual calendar or chronograph, each model retains this recognisable aesthetic signature.
The Saxonia perfectly illustrates this German ability to combine technical rigour with aesthetic refinement, creating timepieces of understated yet assertive elegance.
This collection particularly appeals to enthusiasts who appreciate fine watchmaking in its purest form, without ostentation but with the utmost technical rigour.
