Revelations

25 May 2023

Following the success of the auction organized in 2022 with Révélations, the International Biennial of Crafts and Creation, PIASA is offering a new event-based auction session on Saturday, June 10th.

After its initial success in 2022, Révélations and the auction house PIASA are renewing their partnership this year for an exceptional auction which will take place at the heart of the biennale. In the auction's catalogue, nearly 90 pieces have been selected by the experts of the auction house, in close collaboration with Ateliers d'Art de France, the organizer of Révélations, among the 350 international artists present at the fair.

Material artists, art manufacturers, galleries, designers, foundations, institutions: the diversity of an entire sector on an international scale will take over the Grand Palais Éphémère from June 7 to 11 to testify to the creative vitality of the crafts. This year's event promises a rich discovery of the world's crafts, with new creators and never-before-seen countries such as Armenia, Egypt, Saint-Barthélemy, Denmark, Lebanon, Rwanda and Ecuador.

Since 2013, the international exhibition Le Banquet, the backbone and DNA of the biennial, unveils an unprecedented selection of spectacular pieces from 10 regions of the world. Unique creations from China, Egypt, Ecuador, Europe, France, Portugal, Quebec First Nations, Rwanda and Ukraine become a source of dialogue and exchange around the world's materials and know-how.

"Ateliers d'Art de France and PIASA are united in the care given to the choice of the pieces offered for sale, which must be innovative, durable and the reflection of a know-how of excellence", expressed Stéphane Galerneau, the president of Révélations.

This selection asserts itself as a remarkable showcase of research on materials as well as the techniques used to transform them: worked wood, cut stone, blown glass, straw marquetry, tufted wool, reshaped lava stone, bent metal, and even recycled plastic bags ... are all materials that sharpen the creative minds to achieve pieces - unique for the most part - of exception that question beauty and use.
