The first half of 2022 was successfully concluded on July 7 with an auction dedicated to Contemporary Design. Let's take a look at the results of the first part of the year...
In the first semester of 2022, PIASA held 18 catalogued sales for a total of 24 million euros (with buyer's premium), an increase of over 7% compared to the same period in 2021.
The design sales have been a great success. They provided an opportunity to present the work of recognized and sought-after designers such as Charlotte Perriand, whose "nuage" bookcase sold for €85,800 (with buyer's premium), or George Nakashima, whose set of two modular sofas and a coffee table sold for €294,200 (with buyer's premium). The design department alone achieved a result of €17 million euros (with buyer's premium). These results affirm PIASA's position as french leader for design.
At the same time, the Modern and Contemporary Art sales, including the sale of Lilette and Sam Szafran's publishing collection, brought together a large number of enthusiasts around renowned artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Giacometti.
The Modern and Contemporary Art department holds the first semester's record with the adjudication of Iván Tovar's painting L'hermaphrodite double for €529,800 (with buyer's premium).

This first semester was also an opportunity to develop numerous projects. The jewelry department, highlighted by the arrival of Véronique Tajan as head of the department, established a new dynamic, with two sales achieving very good results, including a white gold ring adorned with a 9.84 carat emerald-cut diamond that sold for €175,500 (with buyer's premium).
PIASA also launched its Onlive auctions, which aim to highlight alternative views, transversal themes and private collections. They recorded a result of about €1.6 million (with buyer's premium). Considering the success of these sales, they shall be further developed in the coming semesters.
