Beyond his interest for Africa and his desire to produce aesthetic photographs, Casimir Zagourski seeks, from his installation in Leopoldville, an official recognition from the Belgian colonial government. He decided to undertake a colossal work of documentation to promote the image of the colonies in Europe and especially to exalt and justify the conquest of the Congo by Belgium. Success comes quickly and in order to make the most of his work, Casimir Zagourski decides to market his work in two totally different and even opposite ways.

On the one hand, he makes custom collections of luxury called 'Elephant Albums', on the other, he decides to distribute his silver prints in small formats on the back of which he prints the outlines of a postcard.
