As a luxury entrepreneur, artistic director, and recognized communication specialist, Gaia Spallanzani brings rare expertise and a major international network to PIASA. Descending from an illustrious lineage, she has been the owner and creative director of Spallanzani Milano 1880—one of Italy's historic fine jewelry houses—since 2014. Under her leadership, the family brand underwent a major international turning point, combining modernity, audacity, and respect for traditional Italian craftsmanship.
Perfectly trilingual (Italian, French, and English) and having lived for over twenty years in Paris as well as abroad, Gaia possesses an intimate knowledge of both French and Italian cultures and markets. Her prestigious professional career has led her to collaborate with leading institutions in fashion, media, and luxury, including the Condé Nast International group, Vogue Italia, as well as the houses of Prada, Dior, Saint Laurent, and Chloé.
A solid academic and professional background
Passionate since childhood about the history of gemstones and design, her meticulous approach and expert eye are underpinned by an outstanding academic career (PhD in Communication Sciences and Performing Arts in Italy, Master’s degree from the Sorbonne University (Paris), Certified gemmologist by the IGI (International Gemological Institute) in Milano, specialising in polished diamonds; training in jewellery and luxury design at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Milano; specialisation in the contemporary art market at Drouot Formation in Paris.)
