28 May 2022

Révélations - International Biennial of Crafts and Creation welcomes PIASA for an exceptional auction at the Grand Palais Éphémère on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 5pm.

Some 100 works - most of them unique - reflecting the richness of contemporary creation have been selected by PIASA among the artists exhibited at the Biennial and will be offered for auction.

Jean Servais Somian (Born in 1972)
Wonmi, 2022 - Set of three conical stools

Estimate : 5 000 / 7 000 €

Ivorian designer, cabinetmaker and sculptor Jean Servais Somian travels between Paris, Abidjan and Grand Bassam. For the past 20 years, the designer has been proposing a transcendent and multifaceted interpretation of nature, for which he feels deeply respectful. Jean Servais Somian works with metal and precious African woods such as coconut, ebony and amazaca, and takes a fresh approach to creating functional and sculptural design pieces. The designer-sculptor assembles materials such as leather, wood, stone and plastic to create contemporary design objects with an ancestral soul. The colours of his creations are directly inspired by Mondrian's primary palette, without omitting black, and highlighted by the lines of burnt wood pieces, which reveal the designer's admiration for Pierre Soulages. Jean Servais Somian's talent is now recognized internationally. He has exhibited his work throughout Africa, in Europe, the United States and Latin America. "Working with wood that has already lived and has traces of life that crackle is a very inspiring experience."

Nina Fradet (Née en 1994)
Leko, 2017 - Table basse
Estimate : 6 000 / 9 000 €

As a young polymorphic artist, Nina Fradet is inspired by her contemporary view of uses, shapes and materials to establish dialogues between different artistic fields through an ethical and committed process. Graduated from the Duperré and Boulle schools, fascinated by the material, she enriched her craft practices during her travels in Iceland and Japan, where she collaborated with designers and worked alongside craftsmen. Since the creation of her workshop, she has been involved in the preservation and transmission of artisanal skills, which for her remain an eternal source of beauty.

Sika Viagbo (Born in 1979) & Atelier Lilikpó
Transitio, 2020 - Cabinet
Estimate: 20 000 / 30 000 €

Sika Viagbo created the Lilikpó workshop with the ambition to renew the profession of Mosaicist and create future pieces of heritage, while perpetuating an ancient art craft. Her multicultural experiences nourish the know-how of the Lilikpó workshop and carry a mission: to make mosaics an essential part of contemporary interiors.

Céline Martinant (born in 1993) & Atelier Andésite
Hublot, 2022 - Wall dish
Estimate: 10 000 / 15 000 €

Céline Martinant "Hublot is a window on our material, on our company's activities, on us, on our professions and our talents. Look through it and you will see our world. This work was born in the lava, taken from the cooled flow in the shape of a gigantic block, which tells the story of the quarry; hardness, harshness, almost violence barely controlled by man's skill. " – Céline Martinant

Steven Leprizé (born in 1986) & Atelier Arca
Plot, 2020 - Unique piece
Outdoor bench

" The marsh oak of which this bench is made is coming out of the ground after 400 years of petrification, blackened by the silt and its tannin. It was made in the oldest sawmill in France, in Brittany, owned by my family, using a machine dating from 1880, called 'La Nationale'. " Steven Leprizé
