On Wednesday 27th March 2019, on the occasion of the Italian Design sale, several luminaires created by designers such as Giuseppe Ostuni, Fontana Arte and Nathalie Grenon will be available for auction. Among these designers, we also find several pieces by Gino Sarfatti, a notable and highly influential figure in 20th century Italian design.
Born in Venice on 16 September 1912, Gino Sarfatti began engineering studies which he did not complete due to lack of financial resources. He then worked for a glass company in Murano where he made his first lamps. In 1939, he moved to Milan where he founded his own publishing house, Arteluce, which after the war became an international reference for the Modern Design movement in the field of lighting.
