Critics rarely honour the status of artist to craftsmen: Ado Chale (1928) is one of them. His modesty defines him as an artisan, success has designated him as an artist.
Luxurious and shimmering, surprising and joyful, his creations are unique and, from the bronze table Goutte d'eau of the 1970s to the sober and splendid black and white furniture of the 2010 collection, embody their time alone.
However, these original and unique pieces are becoming rare. In the end, it is in the auction houses that the truth of Ado Chale is rediscovered.
At the invitation of Frédéric Chambre, general manager of PIASA, his children, Ilona, Pierre and Eric Chale, heirs to a collection of old tables but also to more intimate and less known creations of the artist (small objects, torn papers, obelisks, sculptures...), have agreed to share with others some of these precious memories.
Ilona Chale: "We are delighted with this sale, and we are delighted that our father will be able to see his works find a new home during his lifetime. »
For a designer, even from the age of 90, what better way to see beauty circulate and the eyes of new admiring buyers sparkling!
After the exhibition devoted to him at the Palais des Beaux-Arts / BOZAR in Brussels in September 2017, this homage sale, which is entirely dedicated to him, is finally coming.
