On Thursday, November 3rd, PIASA is organizing a sale dedicated to 20th century Italian design.
The selection for this Fall sale of Italian design includes pieces by architects and designers who built and established the reputation of this creative scene internationally. The production of this period is characterized by drawings and executions at the crossroads between the decorative arts and the beginnings of more industrial design.

Within this perspective, we note several objects with very graphic lines, such as this minimal suspension lamp (lot 29) by Gino Sarfatti, this pair of ceiling lamps (lot 42 and 43) in cut metal tubes and frosted glass designed by the B.B.P.R. collective (Gian Luigi Banfi, Ludovico Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressuti, and Ernesto Nathan Rogers), or this brilliantly worked walnut bookcase (lot 96) by Ico Parisi.

Ico Parisi (1916-1996)

An equally noteworthy object is this group of lighting fixtures by Fontana Arte, including some pieces designed by the Frenchman Max Ingrand who was once the House's artistic director.

Pair of sconces

Finally, a key figure in Italian design auctions, Gio Ponti is represented by a significant body of furniture, including a stool (lot 36) whose seat seems to float in space, a pair of wall-mounted chests of drawers designed in the early 1950s for the Hotel Royal in Naples, and this pair of armchairs (lot 124), an astonishingly unique lot with the original 1930s upholstery.
