Public Viewing | Two upcoming auctions

20 May 2026

PIASA is honored to present two exceptional auctions to be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 118, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.

At 4:00 pm, the OnLive auction "Arman, La mémoire des objets" (The Memory of Objects) will open the day. This sale features a selection of fourteen works by Arman, a central figure of New Realism (Nouveau Réalisme) and one of the most influential French artists of the 20th century. The son of an antique dealer, he turned everyday objects into the raw material for an unprecedented sculptural language: accumulations, inclusions, cuts, and colères, transforming industrial waste into timeless art. The auction spans the full scope of his genius: from accumulations of stamps or paint tubes frozen in resin to deconstructed gilt-bronze violins, as well as tables where welded instrument bodies become architecture. Highlights include Nicador's Nightmare (1983), an imposing dark-patinated bronze, and Sided (1993), a striking assemblage of brass and a wooden violin.

It will be followed at 5:00 pm by the Live auction "Scandinavian Design." Featuring nearly 200 lots, this sale will showcase extraordinary Nordic creation from the early 20th century to the mid-1960s. It will bring together furniture, lighting, and objets d'art by the greatest Danish, Swedish, and Finnish names (Axel Einar Hjorth, Josef Frank, Paavo Tynell, Poul Henningsen, Axel Salto, Hans J. Wegner, Alvar Aalto, and many others). A wide selection of rugs will complete the ensemble, notably featuring exquisite weaves by Märta Måås-Fjetterström and Barbro Nilsson.

The public viewing for these two auctions will take place on the following dates and times:
