Prints, multiples and illustrated books

14 June 2021

The PIASA Editions department is holding a print, illustrated book and multiple edition auction on Wednesday June 30th.

This second sale of the year for the Editions department is particularly rich, both from the point of view of the types of items - silkscreens, books, carpets, photos, lithographs, aquatints, sculptures, etc. - and the great diversity of artists involved. No less than 120 artists from the 20th and 21st centuries are represented, sometimes with very rich sets of pieces. Picasso is notably honoured with three ceramics and six prints, three of which present the muses of Françoise Gilot, Dora Maar and Marie-Thérèse Walter. Fourteen works by François-Xavier Lalanne are also on display, including a dozen prints in a variety of techniques - aquatint, woodcut, soft varnish - from the Bestiaries series.

Among the 11 lots signed by Andy Warhol, two very beautiful serigraphs - original multiples - printed on paper laid on board are to be noted. Lastly, the exhibition also features very contemporary works by renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Yan Pei-Ming, Obey alias Shepard Fairey, Jessica Stockholder, Banksy, Ann Veronica Janssens, etc., demonstrating that printmaking is always in tune with the most contemporary creation.
