In September, PIASA is organising five digital sales, both ONLINE and ONLIVE.
These auctions will be about fashion and style with the "Mode de vie parisien #2" sale, about contemporary art and music with the dispersion of Mr. M's vinyl collection, about design with a selection of furniture and objects where black & white is the main theme, and about Japan with the Art & Craft collection of Jean-Pierre Hauchecorne and the creations of Viviane Hayez and Yves Vacarisas made during their stay in the archipelago in the 1970s.
From September 2 to September 20 (ONLINE)
Following the success of the "Mode de vie parisien #1" sale held at the end of March, PIASA has called on the expertise of Pénélope Blanckaert to organise this second sale on the parisian art de vivre. The sale offers leather goods from the most famous fashion houses as well as Haute Couture creations and accessories, in addition to some men's fashion items.
- Private collection of vinyls art covers by contemporary artists -
From September 2 to September 20 (ONLINE)
The auction of some 200 vinyl records is exclusively composed of titles with cover designs by major figures in modern and contemporary art. It includes rare pieces designed by Joseph Beuys, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol, Sophie Calle, Bansky and others.
"The record cover as an object and as a work of art in itself. Although attempts had already been made, it was after Sgt. Pepper's that people became aware of the value of the cover as an artefact. As an object of collection and fantasy, in between marketing motivations and artistic experiments, the cover attempted for a while to reinvent itself through its form. If most covers remain and will remain gadgets, some will remain in the annals. For example, the Rolling Stones' cover for their 1971 album Sticky Fingers, designed by Andy Warhol and finished by John Pasche, the famous cover with a real zip, or the cover of The Velvet Underground & Nico in 1966, Andy Warhol's famous yellow banana on a white background. Since then, graphic designers and many artists, some of them quite famous, have shown remarkable talent in using their art in the service of music. According to the artists, the public and the media, these objects have become works of art. In this collection, it is impossible for the vast majority of people to acquire even one painting by any artist. Under these circumstances, for a lover of art and/or contemporary music, who can resist gathering a collection of works by world-famous artists, sometimes in extremely limited editions, however affordable, even for names such as Klein, Beuys, Murakami, Koons etc... Like a painting, art covers, record covers, are works that can be framed, hung and contemplated. Music and art hang on the wall, how could it be better?" - Mr M

- Bichromic Design -
Wednesday, September 21, 5:30 PM (ONLIVE)
For this design auction, the selection was inspired by the duotone colours, black and white or the contrast between transparency and chromed metal of the items presented. This sale offers a unique testimony to the various major trends and creative groups of the 20th century: Art Deco, Modernism, Post-Modernism, the Memphis group, etc. This transition to duotone colours often symbolises purity, elegance, romanticism or humour among the heterogeneous creations of the 20th century, with signatures such as Charlotte Perriand, Mathieu Matégot, Ettore Sottsass, Christian Liaigre, Marc Newson...
The online catalogue will be available from September 7, 2022

- Viviane Hayez et Yves Vacarisas : deux créateurs français au Japon -
Wednesday, September 28, 4:00 PM (ONLIVE)
Viviane Hayez and Yves Vacarisas, lovers and designers, were residents of Casa de Velázquez in the 1970s. The duo moved to Japan, where their designs were particularly successful in the fashion world. However, the colourful and highly graphic artistic style of these designers reached into almost every field: fashion, but also graphic arts, sculpture and textile design. Today, PIASA is honoured to offer for sale some thirty of these "Japanese" works, including a collection of drawings, collages, tapestries and sculptures.
The online catalogue will be available from September 12, 2022.
