PIASA kicks off 2024 and its design season with a prestige sale at the Patinoire Royale de Bruxelles - Galerie Valérie Bach. The sale reflects the major trends and creative singularities that have distinguished the major international design scenes from the interwar period to the 1960s. A number of remarkable pieces are on display, including pairs of armchairs: those in bamboo and brass by Japanese designer Ubunji Kidokoro, those with walnut frames and fabric-upholstered seats by Italian designer Gio Ponti, and those with a highly organic shape designed by Marta Blomstedt for the Aulanko Hotel in Finland. Other types of furniture include a metal and glass floor lamp by Frenchman Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, and a conoid bench by American George Nakashima. Finally, there are a number of important sets (seats, tables, storage units, etc.), notably by Finland's Alvar Aalto, or by Pierre Jeanneret, taken from furniture produced for Chandigarh.
