On Thursday, January 28th , 2021, PIASA will present as part of its first (very) Contemporary Art auction, several works of art by various sculptors, painters and visual artists of the current art scene including a painting by Christian Rosa.
Christian Rosa ( born 1982, Rio de Janeiro) belongs to a generation of artists whose work continues to explore the boundaries of abstract art. The artist sees his approach as a process of discovery through which he learns by deconstructing the pictorial surface.
His work feeds on errors, displaced, reappropriated and reconfigured in order to explore the history of painting and the notion of failure as a conceptual guide. Christian Rosa's works are bare, minimal but often contain indefinable figurative elements. They exist between representation and abstraction of elements of faces, animals, movements that appear and reappear, reduced most of the time to a few touches of paint. These abstract compositions are capable of conveying universal concepts without being reduced to a narrative or literal interpretation.
