Brooklyn Ceramics Curated by Peter Lane

21 November 2022

On Wednesday, November 30th PIASA is organizing an auction dedicated to the ceramic works of artist Peter Lane and 16 other creators from the New York art scene.

"Creativity develops in particular places, just as plants flourish in a garden; however diverse they may be, they reflect a set of very specific conditions. This principle is illustrated in this exhibition - and sale - on the art work in Bushwick, the Brooklyn neighborhood where ceramic sculptor Peter Lane has established his studio. In this exhibition, he paints a portrait of the world around him. Indeed, all of the artists are personally connected to Lane. Most have been assistants or in residence in his studio, and others are neighbors or friends with their own creative space. They are not united around a common style, but rather by an approach that brings them together: to create an independent artistic life through ceramics, the most universal and earthly artistic medium," says art historian Glenn Adamson about the artistic microcosm that ceramicist Peter Lane has created in his New York City neighborhood.
