On Wednesday May 18, PIASA is organising two sales dedicated to Brazilian creation (photography and design).
Start at 4:00 PM with an ONLIVE auction of thirty lots, photographs taken in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by renowned photographers (Marc Ferrez, Benjamin Mulock, Georges Leuzinger, Christiano Jr…) and anonymous photographers as well. From 6:00 PM, the second auction features 37 exceptional pieces of Brazilian design (José Zanine Caldas, Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues...) from a private collection.

The first session that opens this Brazilian theme presents about thirty lots, photographs often consisting of several prints grouped together in albums. Most of the works are vernacular photographs of Brazilian landscapes and cities, as well as a few portraits. The majority were taken between the second half of the 19th century and the very beginning of the 20th century, including some by renowned photographers such as Marc Ferrez, Benjamin Mulock, Georges Leuzinger, Christiano Jr.

After the success of the last Brazilian design auction on April 13, PIASA is offering a new sale, this time featuring pieces from a single private collection.
The catalogue features around forty lots. The selection is characterised by a remarkable group of exceptional pieces designed by the greatest names in Brazilian design: José Zanine Caldas, Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues... for the historical figures and Fernando & Humberto Campana, Zanini de Zanine... for the contemporary designers.
Most of the pieces were acquired about 30 years ago and are therefore extremely rare on the market, such as this bookcase, an early work by the Campana brothers, this chair by the Campana brothers, this very iconic tripod chair by Joaquim Tenreiro, or this "confident" armchair in pequi wood by José Zanine Caldas.
