On Wednesday, April 13, PIASA will hold its annual sale dedicated to Brazilian design. Featuring 80 lots, this sale is based on an exceptional selection of design furniture produced between the 1950s and 1970s. Amongst others, we find pieces signed by designers such as José Zanine Caldas, Joaquim Tenreiro, Jorge Zalszupin, Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler...
PIASA has established itself as the leading auction house for Brazilian design from the 1950s to 1970s. Once a year, the auction house honours the work of designers from this particularly dynamic scene with a sale dedicated entirely to it.
For this sale, PIASA presents a catalogue that is deliberately limited in terms of the number of lots in order to offer only exceptional pieces that are particularly rare on the market. The catalogue includes several sets by the five key figures of post-war Brazilian design: José Zanine Caldas, Jorge Zalszupin, Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues and Oscar Niemeyer. The creations of this small group are complemented by furniture designed by Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler and Zanini de Zanine, who in a way continues the talent of his father José Zanine Caldas.
