On September 23rd, PIASA is pleased to present to auction the collection of Françoise Lafon.
This unique sale offers the ultimate glimpse into the aesthetic world of Françoise Lafon. A collector, an aesthete, a trend-setter for those who knew her... this very discreet Parisian turned her house in Pigalle into a veritable cabinet of curiosities. Her acquisitions were never guided by fashion or market speculation, but rather by her heart's desire, her encounters and, above all, her unerring eye. Although his tastes and desires have obviously evolved over half a century of acquisitions, the assurance of his choices has never wavered. Moreover, François Lafon had an incredible gift for arranging objects in his living space and creating a harmony that became clear.
Among the lots on offer are his entire 19th century bedroom with its "return from Egypt" décor, sculptures by Johan Creten produced in the early 2000s, a cherry wood coffee table by Wharton Harris Esherick from the 1970s, a table lamp from the 1920s designed by Henri Rapin and Jean Baptiste Gouvenet for the Manufacture de Sèvres, and a decorative enamelled ceramic panel by Fausto Melotti from the 1960s.
