Barely twenty years old when he founded Bureau Betak, Alexandre De Betak is responsible for over a thousand shows and events in the past two and a half decades. Christened “The Fellini of fashion“ by his peers, Alexandre De Betak is the source of some of the most extraordinary creations and scenographic productions of haute couture. Amongst his clients are Christian Dior, Céline, Calvin Klein, Hermès, Fendi, Tiffany, Rodarte, Hussein Chalayan et Nike. Alexandre De Betak is still today paving the way in modernity with exceptional events and exhibitions throughout the world.
It is both the oneiric and futuristic vision of the designer we encounter through this collection. A collection that resembles him, spontaneous and dazzling, retracing the 1930s through the 1980s. Combined with several kinetic artworks, this ensemble fonds its unity in light and movement. Genuine dialogue between collector’s pieces, curios, and his own creations, this auction will seduce amateurs and collectors. A selection of works by Jacques Adnet will be shown alongside pieces of the “Salon de Joie“, created by Alexandre De Betak for the AD Interiors event in 2015. The robot collection, acquired in Japan during his travels, finds its place besides Ettore Sottsass furniture, and Michel Deverne works complement Pierre Paulin’s seats.
