Department

Modern and contemporary art

Since its establishment in 2006, the Modern and Contemporary Art department has provided collectors with the opportunity to reconnect with some of the most significant names of the 20th century. Our auctions features works by Moïse Kisling, Léonor Fini, Victor Brauner, Maurice Estève, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Georges Mathieu, Dorothea Tanning, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, and Claes Oldenburg.

The Modern and Contemporary Art Department at PIASA assists buyers and sellers by providing them with personalized advice.

We offer complimentary and confidential appraisals as well as collection inventories. This enables us to offer our clients complete collection sales or valuations for insurance purposes or estate division in the event of inheritance.

Thanks to meticulous work in showcasing artworks and active international outreach, the department achieved excellent results during the first half of 2025, thereby strengthening its position.

The sale of two major private collections also marked this period. The sale of the Antoine de Galbert Collection — founder of La Maison Rouge in Paris (2004–2018) — “Art Brut & Co.”, totaled €1,715,805 (buyer's premium included), and the sale of part of “The Geneviève and Jean-Paul Kahn Collection: The Surrealist Woman” reached €3,891,550 (buyer's premium included), setting numerous new records for several artists.
